It is being told that actress Riya Kumari was going towards Kolkata on National Highway 16 with her filmmaker husband Prakash Kumar and two-year-old daughter on Wednesday (December 28). At the same time some miscreants attacked them and killed the actress.
Police said that at around six in the morning, Riya Kumari stayed with her family near Mahish Rekha in Bagnan police station area. At the same time three people attacked him and tried to loot the goods. When the husband of the actress tried to save her, the miscreants shot Riya Kumari and fled from the spot.
Police said that on Wednesday morning, Riya Kumari along with her husband, filmmaker Prakash Kumar and their two-year-old daughter, was going to Kolkata via National Highway via Howrah in a car. In the meantime, to freshen up in the morning, the husband of the actress stopped his car near Bagnan police station area and started going to freshen up, when suddenly some armed miscreants came there and tried to rob him. When Riya ran to save her husband from the miscreants, the miscreants fired at her and fled from there.
Prakash Kumar somehow came to Kulgachia Highway with his injured wife sitting in the car and sought help from the people. On being told by the people, the husband reached the SCC Medical College and Hospital in Uluberia with the injured wife. Where the doctors declared the actress dead. Police reached the spot after taking possession of the body, got the post-mortem done.
