Vikram Sarabhai – Ishwak Singh (Rocket Boys)
The journey of Vikram Sarabhai, considered the father of the Indian space programme, was rarely shown on screen until Ishwak Singh was cast in the Rocket Boys series. He portrayed the character so well that now we cannot imagine anyone else in that role.
IPS Amit Lodha – Karan Tacker (Khaki – The Bihar Chapter)
Karan Tacker was recently seen in Khakee The Bihar Chapter where he played the role of IPS Amit Lodha. The story is based on Amit’s book ‘Bihar Diaries: The True Story of How Bihar’s Most Dangerous Criminal Was Caught’. It’s a real-life thriller story, played brilliantly by Karan.
Gangubai – Alia Bhatt (Gangubai Kathiawadi)
Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi was one of the blockbuster films of the year which saw Alia Bhatt playing the title role. The film is about a story inspired by real life, who is later admirably sold into a brothel. The film tells the story of a commercial sex worker who rose to an incredible amount of fame for her work in her profession and beyond.
Captain Vikrant Khanna – Ajay Devgan (Runway 34)
Ajay Devgn tells the story of Captain Vikrant Khanna and the film is inspired by an aviation incident on a Jet Airways flight from Dubai to Kochi in 2015. This is the story of Vikrant’s heroic decision, which saved so many lives.
Mithali Raj – Taapsee Pannu (Shabaash Mithu)
Powerful performance by Taapsee Pannu as she brings to screen the story of Mithali Raj, former captain of a women’s cricket team. The actress also got rave reviews for her performance for this movie.
Nambi Narayanan – R Madhavan (Rocketry)
R Madhavan plays the role of Nambi Narayanan, an Indian scientist who was once accused of espionage. Madhavan mastered the role so well that even the physical resemblance between the two was uncanny.
