Though I am out of the running for this award, this recognition at the international level is certainly a slap in the face to all those who called this film a propaganda. I am glad that now the world is recognizing the Kashmiri Hindu Genocide. This is another step in our mission.”
Obviously, Bollywood’s highest-grossing film The Kashmir Files has faced criticism, backlash and hatred from many. Nadav Lapid, an Israeli director and jury chairperson of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), called The Kashmir Files “obscene and propaganda”. But despite all the odds, the film has been recognized and selected as one of the top 5 Indian films at the Oscar Awards. The Oscars and Academy Awards are well accepted by the world’s most prestigious and global audiences. The inclusion of ‘The Kashmir Files’ in the top 5 Indian films along with ‘RRR’, ‘Kantara’, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and ‘Rocketry – The Nambi Effect’ is a slap on the faces of all those who criticized the film. Actor Pallavi Joshi has been selected in the Best Actor category for her roles in The Kashmir Files alongside Anupam Kher.
