Bad news has come out once again from the Hollywood industry. It is reported that German writer-director Wolfgang Petersen has passed away. Pietersen died on Friday at his Brentwood home. He breathed his last at the age of 81. Director’s representative Michelle Bega informed that he was suffering from pancreatic cancer.

Wolfgang Petersen is best known for ‘In the Line of Fire’, ‘Air Force One’ and ‘The Perfect Storm’. Born in Emden, Germany, Wolfgang Petersen began his directing career with West German television in the 1960s.
He gained prominence at the international level with ‘Das Boot’ in 1981. The film depicts the world during the Second World War, for which he received 6 Oscar nominations. Out of these 6 Oscar nominations, two were for Best Director and Best Screenplay.
