In the first episode of a light-hearted, light-hearted business-meets-life podcast, Masaba candidly talks to world tennis champion, flamboyant and outspoken athlete, living legend – Sania Mirza about her impending retirement as the world’s golden girl. Opening in Tennis, her biggest matches and the not so perfect moments behind the scenes that shaped her into the force she is today.

Sania told unheard stories
Sania, the first guest on the podcast, dropped several truth bombs in her famous ‘no-nonsense’ style. Giving an interesting insight as she talks about her iconic match against tennis legend Serena Williams when she was just 18, she said, “We saw Serena, Venus, these great champions. We never thought that we Indians could ever match him. Then all of a sudden, they had this 18-year-old girl competing against these champions” Mirza elaborated, “This failure made me who I am today. It changed the entire graph of my life.”

Big decision to stop the competition
“To stop competing, stop walking down the middle of the court with the crowd cheering for you… It’s a very, very big decision. I have had help, I have had therapy” she shares. “Can’t bear to leave my son for 25-30 weeks a year. And now I’m 36. I have had many surgeries.”
