Shakuntala-Dushyant’s love story
This love story begins when King Dushyant goes hunting in the forest one day and his eyes fall on Shakuntala. Dushyant falls in love with Shakuntala and proposes marriage to her. On this Shakuntala also agrees to the king’s proposal and both get married. However, when all this happens, sage Kanva is not present in the ashram, so Shakuntala does not accompany Dushyant to the palace. After this Dushyant promises that he will take him from the ashram as soon as the sage arrives. Shakuntala becomes pregnant and keeps thinking about Dushyant day and night.
Shakuntala and Dushyant get separated due to the curse of sage Durvasa.
Once sage Durvasa reaches Kanva’s cottage. At that time Shakuntala was lost in the thoughts of her husband Dushyant. Shakuntala does not listen to Durvasa Rishi’s voice even after calling him several times. Sage Durvasa gets angry on this and curses Shakuntala. Sage Durvasa curses Shakuntala that the person in whose thoughts you ignored my voice will forget you.
This is what happens going ahead and when Shakuntala goes to Dushyant in a pregnant condition, he refuses to recognize her. After this Shakuntala starts living in a hut in the jungle and gives birth to a beautiful son. On the other hand, when Raja finds Shakuntala’s ring, he remembers everything and sets out to find Shakuntala. One day the king sees a bright boy counting the teeth of a lion in the forest, seeing which he is amazed. Meanwhile, Shakuntala comes there and tells the king that he is her son.
