Upon its release, the film broke the record of earnings. James Cameron’s Avatar has become the second highest grossing film of all time with 2.9 billion worldwide. Avengers Endgame still remains at number one.

Avatar: The Way of Water has opened strongly at the box office in India. As per early estimates, the James Cameron-directorial has collected Rs 38.50 crore to Rs 40.50 crore at the box office on its opening day on 16 December.

The film has broken the records of four top Hollywood films Spiderman – No Way Home, Avengers Infinity War, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Thor – Love and Thunder on the opening day. However, Avatar 2 failed to leave behind Avengers Endgame. Avatar’s sequel has earned 38 crores, while Endgame collected 53.60 crores.

The first day collection of Avatar 2 has made the makers quite happy. In such a situation, it is now expected on the weekend that more and more people will reach the theaters to watch Avatar 2.
