Prabhas’ uncle Krishnam Raju passes away, ‘Rebel Star’ breaths his last at the age of 82

Uncle of Telugu film star and actor Prabhas U.V. Krishnam Raju has passed away. UV Krishnam Raju was a popular actor of South, former Union Minister. He was also called Rebel Star in Tollywood. Krishnam Raju breathed his last at the age of 82. Earlier on Saturday night, his health had deteriorated. After this he was admitted to the hostel.

Actors, directors and fans of South Film Industry are paying their tribute to Krishna Raju on social media. Also standing with Prabhas and his family in this hour of grief.

South’s director Maruti has paid tribute to Krishnam Raju on social media. they wrote- ‘It is very sad to know that veteran actor and Rebel Star Krishnam Raju is no more with us. My condolences to Prabhas Garu and his family. May the soul of Lord Krishnam Raju sir rest in peace. You will always be in our heart.

Krishnam Raju was a journalist in the beginning of his career. He made his Tollywood debut with the 1966 film Chilaka Gornika. The film received the prestigious Nandi Award of South. After this he was seen in the mythological film Sri Krishnavatram with NT Rama Rao. In the 70s and 80s, Krishnam Raju did many big blockbuster films. In his career spanning nearly 50 years, Krishnam Raju acted in about 183 films. Krishnam Raju was last seen in his nephew Prabhas and Pooja Hegde’s film Radhe Shyam.

Apart from films, Krishnam Raju was also very active in politics. He contested from Naraspuram seat in 1992 on a Congress ticket. He lost this election. A few years later he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. He became an MP from Kakinada seat in the 1998 general elections. From 1998 to 2002, he was a minister of state in the government of former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Talking about personal life, Krishnam Raju first married Sita Devi. His first wife had passed away. After this he married Shyamladevi. He has three daughters from this marriage.
