The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2022 celebrations, now in its 13th year, officially kicked off this morning by the stars of Indian cinema at an iconic landmark in Melbourne, Australia. After two years of festival programming that was happening online only, the festival is back, with the physical festival starting today and ending on August 20. The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2022 celebrations, now in its 13th year, officially kicked off this morning by the stars of Indian cinema at an iconic landmark in Melbourne, Australia. After two years of festival programming that was happening online only, the festival is back, with the physical festival starting today and ending on August 20. Abhishek Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu, Vaani Kapoor, Tamannaah Bhatia, Shefali Shah, singer Sona Mohapatra and filmmakers Anurag Kashyap, Kabir Khan, Aparna Sen, Nikkhil Advani and Shoojit Sircar were present at the official launch.

The actors took to the stage in the presence of a special audience to announce this year’s schedule, which features Taapsee Pannu’s re-opening night film. There are other exciting events apart from the screening of over 120 films, Independence Day celebrations, there will be a series of panel discussions among other specially curated events.

Abhishek Bachchan said, “Finally I am here in Melbourne and I am loving it. I am looking forward to seeing it again. Almost my entire family has represented India here and I am very proud of it. I look forward to being a part of the celebrations and I thank Sarkar and Meetu for coming here. It feels great to be given the Leadership in Cinema Award.”

When asked about the South and Hindi film debates at the festival, Tamannaah commented, “I think this conversation is unique to India only, whenever I travel abroad I never hear people distinguish, they It’s called Indian cinema. And it’s the same here at IFFM. I think audiences want to watch pan-India movies and more content like this is being created and appreciated by all.
